Copyright in articles

Authors retain full copyright and all publishing rights in their work without restriction. The journal does not require any transfer of copyright and claims no exclusive rights, including no exclusive commercial rights. By submitting to the journal, authors grant a non-exclusive licence to publish and agree that their article will be distributed under CC BY 4.0.

These terms apply to the articles published by the journal. They are distinct from the terms governing the journal's website, its design, and its non-article content, which remain the property of the publisher. Nothing in the website terms restricts the rights granted to readers and authors by CC BY 4.0 over the published articles.

Third-party material

Where a manuscript includes figures, tables, images, or extended quotations owned by a third party, the author is responsible for obtaining written permission to publish that material under the journal's licence, and for citing the source. Material for which open licensing permission cannot be obtained should be removed or replaced before publication.

Self-archiving

Authors may deposit any version of their work, whether the preprint, the author's accepted manuscript, or the published version of record, in an institutional repository, a subject repository, a personal or departmental website, or a scholarly networking site, at any time and with no embargo period. Authors are asked to include the article's DOI and a citation to the published version.
